Heirloom Tomato Tart with Ricotta and Basil



This Heirloom Tomato Tart with Ricotta and Basil is a delightful combination of flavors, perfect for showcasing the vibrant colors and fresh taste of heirloom tomatoes. The creamy ricotta cheese provides a luscious base, while the fragrant basil adds a burst of herbal aroma. It's a simple yet elegant tart that makes a wonderful appetizer or light meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 large heirloom tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 400F 200C

Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to fit a tart pan or baking sheet

Spread the ricotta cheese evenly over the puff pastry

Arrange the sliced tomatoes on top of the ricotta

Sprinkle chopped basil over the tomatoes

Drizzle olive oil over the tart and season with salt and pepper

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the tomatoes are softened

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing

Serve warm and enjoy!
